The Pay Transparency Directive is not yet Austrian law. We still don’t know exactly what it will require of us. However, companies should prepare now and, at the very latest, start creating salary structures, dividing employees into groups, calculating pay ranges, and establishing criteria.

This process takes weeks and months, but it is essential to lay the groundwork for providing information to employees once the law comes into effect.
 
That was the main message from Conrad Pramböck, an Austrian compensation expert, at today’s Eblinger & Partner Executive Search Business Breakfast at the Vienna Management Club.
 
We remain curious to see what the law will look like in practice, which components will be used to calculate salaries, and how the disclosure process will be structured.
 
Many are also concerned about the cultural shift. “In Austria, we don’t talk about money or our own salaries.” Gender Pay Gap Transparency will drive change here.

Let’s see how quickly and how far this change goes. We can only hope that the fundamental goal—that women and men earn the same for equal work—remains in focus!
